Hats Always On My Head!

It's so great to have you visit my hat blog!

My goal is to showcase the potential of even the most novice crocheter to be able to stitch together the most beautiful beanies, berets, and brain-warmers they never dreamed possible!

Please share your photos so I may place them on my Flickr page and here on this blog! I'm looking forward to sharing your hats with others and I just love to see what you have created!

Basic Hat Pattern Version 101 "Rattails"

Basic Hat Pattern
Version 101
"Rattails"

I couldn't help myself! I liked the long hair!

I couldn't bring myself to cut it and make it short! Oh my!

The wind was blowing!

Top of hat.

 Side View.

Supply List:

Hook Size J
Worsted weight acrylic yarn
Yarn needle

Level of difficulty:

Medium

Hat size:

Large, but runs a little small. You may want to use a size K hook for a
larger to extra large hat.

Notes:

Changing colors:
I usually change colors in last dc made, but this hat the color change shows.
When I get to the end of a row and I sl st to join the row, this is where I make
my color change.

Weaving in your ends:
When you complete a row stop and take the time to weave in your 2 strands of
yarn. There are over 40 strands to weave and trust me you don’t want to do
it when you complete your hat!

Rattail:

You can create your rattail from almost anything! Crochet one! Knit an i-cord!
Go to your local beauty supply store and pick up some inexpensive hair!
Sometimes Wal-Mart has fake hair! Use beads! The possibilities are endless!

Attaching Rattail:

I tied yarn to my rattail and then tied it to the hat.

I am going to create some patterns for rattails and how to attach them in the future.
