Basic Hat Pattern Version 66 "Happy Pink Day!"



Basic Hat Pattern

Version 66

 The 20th of this month is my anniversary! I'm 13 years breast cancer free!

So I called this hat "Happy Pink Day"!
“ATSYNTK”
(all the stuff you need to know)

Yarn:  It takes less than 2 ounces of each color of worsted weight yarn. 

Supplies: Size H hook, yarn needle.

Skill Level: Easy

Stitches Used: sl st, hdc, fpdc

Notes: If you would like to be able to pull the hat down more over the ears add extra rounds of Round 19. I used Red Heart colors, Shocking Pink, White, and Pretty N Pink.

Gauge: Rounds 1-4 across equals 4 1/4 inches.

Hat Size: Medium

Color A: Dark Pink
Color B: White
Color C: Bright Pink

Pattern:
With color A,
Ch 4, sl st in first ch made.

Round 1. Ch 2, dc in ring 12 times. Change to color B in last stitch made. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (12 dc)

Round 2. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2. 2 dc in each remaining 11 sp. Change to color C in last stitch made. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (24 dc)

Round 3. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2, fpdc in next sp, (2 dc in next sp, fpdc in next sp), 11 times. Change to color B in last stitch made. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (24 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 4. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2, dc in next sp, fpdc in next sp, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next sp, fpdc in next sp.) 11 times. Change to color A in last stitch made. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (36 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 5. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2, dc in next 2 sp, fpdc in next sp, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 sp, fpdc in next sp .) 11 times. Change to color B in last stitch made.  Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (48 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 6. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2, dc in next 3 sp, fpdc in next sp, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next 3 sp,  fpdc in next sp.) 11 times. Change to color C in last stitch made.  Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (60 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 7. Ch 2, 1 dc in same sp as ch 2, dc in next 4 sp, fpdc in next sp, (dc in next 5 sp, fpdc in next sp.) 11 times. Change to color B in last stitch made. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (60 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 8. Repeat Round 7. Change to color A in last stitch made.

Round 9. Repeat Round 7. Change to color B in last stitch made.

Round 10. Repeat Round 7. Change to color C in last stitch made.

Round 11. Repeat Round 7. Change to color B in last stitch made.

Round 12. Repeat Round 7. Change to color A in last stitch made.

Round 13. Repeat Round 7. Change to color B in last stitch made.

Round 14. Repeat Round 7. Change to color A in last stitch made.

Round 15. Ch 1, hdc in same sp as ch 1, hdc in next 2 sp, hdc decrease in next 2 sp,(hdc in next 3 sp, hdc decrease in next 2 sp) 13 times, hdc in remaining 2 sp. (58 hdc)

Round 16. Ch 1, hdc in same sp as ch 1, hdc around. 

Round 17. Repeat Round 16.

Round 18. Repeat Round 16.

Round 19. Repeat Round 16.
Fasten off.

Yarn:  2 1/2 ounces worsted weight for hat, less than an ounce of color B, add less than an ounce for a small pom-pom.

Supplies: Size G hook, yarn needle, pom-pom maker.

Skill Level: Easy

Stitches Used: sl st, sc, fpsc, hdc, fpdc, bpdc, 

Notes: Hat runs small. I used Red Heart worsted  yarn in Camouflage and Black.

Gauge: Sorry! Forgot to check it!

Hat Size: small


Pattern:

Color A: Camo or variegated
Color B: Black

With color A,
Ch 4, sl st in first ch made.

Round 1. Ch 2, dc in ring 12 times. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (12 dc)

Round 2. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2. 2 dc in each remaining 11 sp. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (24 dc)

Round 3. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2, fpdc in next sp, (2 dc in next sp, fpdc in next sp), 11 times. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (24 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 17. Ch 2, (Skip Round 16 and crochet in Round 15.) fpdc in same sp as ch 2, bpdc in next sp, (fpdc in next sp, and bpdc in next sp, around) Sl st in 1st fpdc made. (36 fpdc, 36 bpdc) 

Round 18. Ch 2, fpdc around fpdc in row below, (Round 17) and in same sp as ch 2, ch 1, skip next sp, (fpdc around fpdc in row below, ch 1, skip next sp, around) Sl st in 1st fpdc made.  (36 fpdc, 36 ch 1 sp)

Round 19. Ch 2, fpdc around fpdc in row below (Round 18) and in same sp as ch 2, ch 1, skip next sp, (fpdc around fpdc in row below, ch 1, skip next sp, around) Sl st in 1st fpdc made. (36 fpdc, 36 ch 1 sp) 

Round 20. Ch 1, hdc in same sp as ch 1, hdc in ch 1 sp, (hdc in next sp, (the fpdc) hdc in ch 1 sp, around)  Sl st in 1st hdc made.  (72 hdc) 

Round 21. Ch 1, sc in same sp as ch 1, ch 1, skip next sp, (sc in next sp, ch 1, skip next sp) around. Sl st in 1st sc made. 

Fasten off.
Make pom-pom and attach to top of hat.

This hat is oversized to keep from crushing your hair.

Yarn:  3 ounces worsted weight for hat, add another ounce for pom-pom if making a large pom-pom as pattern suggests. 

Supplies: Size I hook, yarn needle, pom-pom maker.

Skill Level: Easy

Stitches Used: sl st, sc, fpsc, hdc, fpdc, bpdc, 

Notes: Hat is made oversized to accommodate lots of hair. It does run big. I used Red Heart worsted, color, Soft White Fleck.

Gauge: Rounds 1-4 across equals 4 1/4 inches.

Hat Size: large to extra large


Pattern:
Ch 4, sl st in first ch made.

Round 1. Ch 2, dc in ring 12 times. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (12 dc)

Round 2. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2. 2 dc in each remaining 11 sp. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (24 dc)

Round 3. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2, fpdc in next sp, (2 dc in next sp, fpdc in next sp), 11 times. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (24 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 4. Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp as ch 2, dc in next sp, fpdc in next sp, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next sp, fpdc in next sp.) 11 times. Sl st in top of 1st dc made. (36 dc, 12 fpdc)

Round 18. Ch 2, fpdc around fpdc in row below, (Round 17) and in same sp as ch 2, ch 1, skip next sp, (fpdc around fpdc in row below, ch 1, skip next sp, around) Sl st in 1st fpdc made.  (36 fpdc, 36 ch 1 sp)

Round 19. Ch 2, fpdc around fpdc in row below (Round 18) and in same sp as ch 2, ch 1, skip next sp, (fpdc around fpdc in row below, ch 1, skip next sp, around) Sl st in 1st fpdc made. (36 fpdc, 36 ch 1 sp) 

Round 20. Ch 1, hdc in same sp as ch 1, hdc in ch 1 sp, (hdc in next sp, (the fpdc) hdc in ch 1 sp, around)  Sl st in 1st hdc made.  (72 hdc) 

Round 21. Ch 1, sc in same sp as ch 1, ch 1, skip next sp, (sc in next sp, ch 1, skip next sp) around. Sl st in 1st sc made. 

Fasten off.

Make large pom-pom and attach to top of hat.
